1949 brooch

PANTHÈRE CLIP BROOCH, 1949,
CARTIER COLLECTION
In 1948, a panther is represented anatomically for the first time in three dimensions on an emerald cabochon. This jewelry piece was ordered by the Duchess of Windsor, a figure in high society known for her boldness and personality. One year later, another brooch was created, this time on a sapphire cabochon. It would come to be one of Cartier’s most emblematic jewelry pieces and appear regularly throughout the world in exhibitions of the Cartier Collection.
