Tressage
Tressage
As the latest addition to the Cartier Libre collection, Tressage brings together three aesthetics that reinterpret goldwork, volume and the interplay of contrasts—as well as a unique creation that is both a cape and an exquisite jewelry piece, born from a collaboration with a Parisian stylist.
Precious elements
Gold spheres and strands unite in a ring and a bracelet to create shining jewelry with volume. These precious, clinking creations are composed of a multitude of gold beads, an emblematic shape of the Maison, as early as the time of Jeanne Toussaint. For this new collection, the challenge for the jewelers was to create the illusion of a continuous chain.
Materials in tension
Cartier pushes the boundaries of appearance and transforms hard materials—gold and stone—to give the illusion of precious pieces in motion. The result is a lightweight piece with a wide chainmail weave that evokes a classic piece of jewelry.
Twisted coral, braided diamonds and gold
Gold, diamonds and coral: this color palette is in keeping with Jeanne Toussaint's chromatic heritage. Cartier transposes it into a game of illusion as a powerful trompe-l'oeil creation with a meticulous composition.
A cape transformed
Assembled over approximately 1,780 hours that call upon a heritage of gold work and encounters with multiple disciplines, the flowing Cartier Libre Tressage Cape took shape in the heart of Cartier’s workshops over the course of 2 years of design and realization: A celebration of 67,000 yellow gold chainmail links connected by hand, specially-developed gold zips, 14 faceted onyx tassels and 224 diamonds.
At the crossroads of exceptional savoir-faire
As one of the bold and radical creations in the Cartier Libre collection, the Tressage Cape showcases the Maison’s savoir-faire, an insatiable curiosity for innovation and creative explorations that enter new realms of expression. Challenging the very limits of form and design, this couture treasure brings exceptional materials to life, continuing a Cartier tradition of richly inspired collections born of a pioneering spirit.
